English - the Language of Rock?

Shortcut:

Rock music started in the USA in the 1950s, but today rock has spread all over the world. Many new musical forms have developed, for example reggae, hip hop, punk, techno and heavy metal.

Most artists who have become famous across the globe have come from the USA or the United Kingdom, for example Elvis Presley and the Beatles.

Some artists from other countries have also managed to reach large audiences. They have one thing in common: They sing in English. Examples are ABBA from Sweden and a-ha from Norway.
